Factoid About Online Pharmacies

Factoid About Online Pharmacies

We’ve all seen the commercials on TV for cheap, convenient pet products sold online but are they really as good as they seem?   Some online pharmacies sell unapproved or counterfeit drugs, make fraudulent claims, dispense prescription drugs without requiring a prescription, and sell expired products. You may think you are saving money, but in reality, you may be short-changing your pet's health and putting his or her life at risk.

Here’s an example: Frontline is only sold to veterinarians but it has recently started popping up on shelves at local department stores. The frontline found in stores may have been made in a foreign country. This means it could have additional ingredients that could be potentially harmful to your pet or the main ingredient could be substituted for other substances that are not effective against fleas and ticks, such as water. Merial also guarantees their products if you purchase your frontline from your veterinarian. If you buy it anywhere else that guarantee is null and void.

But hey at least the online pharmacies are cheaper right? Not necessarily the case. When online pharmacies started a few years ago they advertised cheaper prices to draw customers in, now that they have been around for awhile they continue to raise their prices. In most cases their prices are more expensive than those offered by a veterinarian.
